3 years agoSuperb, Fantastic, Amazing!!! They were very short staffed and my expectations were not high. Thank goodness they proved me wrong! I had the shepherds pie, it was supernatural. I am a bit a strange duck when it comes to shepherd pie, I believe they should be made with fresh ingredients... this place did not disappoint! It was fantastic! Service was friendly and as swift as possible given the nation wide staffing issues. Very clean and tidey... at least as clean an tidey as any pub can be. I also had an appetizer, curry cheese fries... Believe me... I was hesitant, but I'm now thankful I gave them a try! I fully recommend them! If you're in town, this place is definitely worth a stop. You will not be disappointed!

Edited 5 years agoA great place to enjoy a new and unique drink, great appetizers, and a fun conversation! Make sure you try the curry fries, you won't be disappointed. The curry sauce at the bottom of the dish compliments the garlic aioli served with it very well. Top it off with the melted cheese and that makes these fries a world above anything else I've had. The bartenders are always willing to suggest/create something for you so get creative if you aren't interested in their selection of unique cocktails. They have a great selection of beers, Bourbons and their Guinness pours are always flawless and ready for social media. 🙂

Edited 5 years agoLexington's BRAND NEW Irish gastropub - in the former Cheapside/Ruddy Duck - opened the last week of January and I went on day 1, just couldn't stay away. I'll say this: We're in for a treat. Paul, one of the partners, was on-hand that evening to meet all the patrons and he's got great big plans in store. Check it out! Also, if you're wondering why I included a picture of a bathroom, you've clearly never set foot in this establishment before - it's a VAST improvement, to say the least! Expanded review to follow when I get a chance to order food, but for the first time, the bar atmosphere was absolutely on point! UPDATE: I’ve now been to H&J for brunch and it was excellent! Our trio ordered the Full Irish Breakfast, Shepherd’s Pie, and Egg & Cheese. I was so curious about the black and white pudding that I had to order a side of it, too. Unfortunately, it has almost no flavor (unlike goetta, which it’s often compared with but doesn’t hold a candle to) so I won’t be doing that again. For drinks we ordered a Bloody Mary, Gin Fizz, grapefruit Mimosa, and Guinness. We would have loved to linger but a) the drinks were pretty expensive for what they were and b) UK was playing at home and a lengthy line had formed. I can’t wait to go back for dinner and sample some more Irish grub!

3 years agoThe bartender was very friendly and accommodating. All the servers seemed to be very professional and work well together. I didn’t meet the chef but was very impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the penne pasta with cajun chicken. It was incredible! It may be the best pasta I’ve ever eaten. The creamy pesto cheese sauce seemed to be baked into the perfectly cooked penne pasta.

a year agoWe came into this bar/restaurant just before the kitchen closed, we asked if it was too late for food, the lady in the kitchen said she was closing in five minutes, so we place our order and it was brought our to us 10 minutes later. I have to say I had some of the best chicken tenders ever. The food was delicious food and the staff were very friendly. I can highly recommend this Irish bar.

7 months agoWe visited The Jockey Bar for brunch. They have a nice patio. We had French Toast and Chicken Tenders. The steak fries were nicely seasoned. The Jockey sauce was really good. Great spot to have a drink.

7 months agoThis restaurant offers everything you could want in a casual night out for dinner. It has amazing food throughout the whole menu. Their wings are some of the best I have ever had! The atmosphere in downtown Lexington is beautiful and gives off great vibes. They have inside and outside seating, for any weather and all preferences. Also, they let you seat yourself and order from your phone. This is awesome because it makes everything so much faster without having to wait for a host and a waiter. Even though you don’t order through the waiter, they still are very attentive and are walking around at all times in case you need anything. The food comes out very quick and is very high quality. I have never had the smashburger there myself, but I have heard it is some of the best burgers in town. This is a great place to take your family when visiting Lexington.
